HomeGadgets started as a price comparison site, and that is still the core job: tell you the best available price on a product across Canadian retailers. But a price only means something when you know exactly what you are buying. So we are progressively adding deep product specs and side-by-side comparison — without ever burying the price.

Deep Specs, Rolling Out Category by Category

We are filling in detailed specifications one category at a time rather than shipping shallow data everywhere at once. TVs have the richest spec coverage today — panel type, resolution, refresh rate, HDR formats, smart platform, ports, and more — and monitors are next in line.

The rest of the catalog follows. As each category is built out, its product pages move from a basic summary to a full spec sheet you can actually use to tell two near-identical models apart. We would rather have complete, trustworthy specs in a few categories than thin guesses across all of them.

Side-by-Side Comparison

Specs are most useful when you can line products up against each other. Our side-by-side comparison is live for TVs: pick two models and see their specs and current prices in a single view, differences made obvious. Try it on the TV comparison page.

Comparison expands to a new category as that category's spec coverage matures — monitors will be among the first to follow TVs.

Always the Best Canadian Price

None of this changes the fundamentals. Every product page still surfaces the best available price across the Canadian retailers we track, including first-party retailer listings. Deeper specs and comparison are there to help you decide which product to buy; the price comparison is there to make sure you do not overpay once you have decided.

Growing Coverage

Retailer and brand coverage keeps growing. More retailers mean more price points per product and a better chance of catching the real low. More brands mean fewer gaps when you search for something specific. We add both continuously, and most prices refresh several times a week.

Unbiased, No Pay-for-Placement

We do not accept fees from retailers or brands for placement or ranking. Retailers are shown by price, equally. Affiliate links are disclosed on every page and do not affect which retailer appears first or how products are ranked. The goal is simple: the right product, at the best Canadian price, with the information to back up the choice.
